Long Road
(Sherry Lynn Clark)
Words & Music: Sherry Lynn Clark
I've been walkin' down this long, long road
I've been walkin' down this long, long road
So tired of this life, I can't fight anymore
I've been walkin' so long, you know these feet,
they're gettin' sore
I've been walking down this long, long road
What am I waitin' for?
I've been puttin' in my time
I've been puttin' in my time
I need to make a change, I can't live like I do
The world is passin' me by and I can't see my
way through
I've been puttin' in my time
I've been waitin' for You
Chorus:
Will You take my life and turn it around
Will You take my soul out of the lost and found
Will you take my life and make it new
Lord Jesus, I need You
Yeah, you know they say You've taken my sin
Yeah, you know they say You've taken my sin
Oh, I can see Your light, reachin' for me
Yeah, Your redeeming love, you know has set me
free
Yeah, they tell me that you've taken my sin
On the cross at Calvary
Chorus
(The first rendition of this song was written in
1999
when I first started in prison ministry. I kept
working on it until I came up with this version
in 2003, and it was a crowd favorite when we
would play it in concert. This song is a
reminder that while most of us are not
physically in prison, we can be imprisoned by
our sin and desperately need the Lord's help)
