Amazing Grace
(Sherry Lynn Clark & Pamela Jo
Cramer)
Words: John Newton
Music: Sherry Lynn Clark & Pamela Jo Cramer
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found
Was blind but now I see
T'was grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
Through many dangers, toils, and snares
I have already come
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me home
When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We've no less days to sing our God's praise
Than when we first begun.
Amazing grace, amazing grace, amazing grace
I once was lost but now am found
Was blind but now I see
(One night at band practice, our keyboardist
Gary Fischer came up to me and said we should
try doing "Amazing Grace" to this simple chord
progression. Pam and I came up with the melody,
and then someone in the band, I don't remember
who, said we should try doing it "Freebird"
style. That's how it ended up starting slow and
picking up the pace midway.
We ended most of our concerts with this song,
screaming guitars all the way!)
